How RSS Feeds Help in SEO Optimization

RSS, which stands for Really Simple Syndication is a web feed that is designed to publish updated content such as blog post, podcast and video. Submitting your RSS feeds to the blog directory allows the search engine to crawl your blog more often so that it can pick up new content. You will also increase the backlink to your site by submitting to the blog directory. There are many blog directories where you can submit your RSS feed. Some of the blog directories which accept RSS feed URL include blogarama.com, blog.com and Blog Catalog.

The titles should have at least 50 - 75 characters. To increase the readability, you should not use HTML code in the title. The RSS title should be write in such as way that it grab the attention of the reader. The RSS title functions just like the page title. You should use important keywords in the title so that users can easily find it when performing a search.

In order for people to easily find your RSS feed, you should always include keyword in the description. The description will provide a brief summary of the content of the blog post. You can include 2 - 3 keywords in the description. Despite that, the description should not be purely written for the search engine optimization, but it should be written in an interesting way to attract the attention of readers. By using keyword in the feed title and description, people will more likely find your feed and subscribe it.

You can add an image to the RSS feed to grab people's attention. The image should be a minimum of 88 x 31 and a maximum of 144 x 400. Using image in RSS feed can establish brand recognition. If you prefer, you can add images to the description field. You should also include a full URL to the image in case the feed fail to retrieve the image locally.
