Windows 7 PC Speedup Advice - How to Make Windows 7 Run Really Fast

If you're trying to use Windows 7 but find it's constantly running slowly, you'll be pleased to hear that there's a simple way to make your PC run really fast. Not many people know about this, but if you follow this tutorial, you should be able to boost the speed and reliability of your Windows 7 PC in a few minutes.

Although Windows 7 is the most advanced and high-powered operating system ever to be released from Microsoft, it's still prone to many of the common issues that have made Windows run slow in the past. One of the biggest and most common reasons for Windows to run slowly is actually one of the easiest to fix - and it's all down to a part of your computer called the "registry". The registry is a database which stores information and settings for your PC - but it's also the main problem that causes Windows 7 to run slow.

The problem that many computers have is that the registry database stores too much information for your computer, which means that when Windows loads, it has to read 100's of registry settings just to help it run. Such information that's stored in the registry database includes your Windows theme settings, desktop wallpaper, screen resolution and even your stored passwords. The registry is basically like the virtual memory for your computer, but is also a very bad memory in that many of the settings it has tend to get corrupted and damaged.

Unfortunately, Windows has an Achilles Heel in the form of the "registry", which is still a major issue in Windows 7. The problem is that whenever you use your computer, it's trying to use so many settings all at once that it gets confused and saves many of them in the wrong way. This causes the settings to become damaged and corrupted, making Windows unable to read the files it needs when it next needs to load them. This slows your PC dramatically because it causes Windows to take longer to process the information it needs, slowing it down more and more.

The bad news is that each time you use your PC, more and more damaged settings are causing it to run slower... but the good news is that you can fix this problem very easily and make Windows 7 run really fast again. To do this, you download a registry repair tool from the web. This is a tool which will scan and clean all the damaged settings that Windows has, allowing your PC to run much smoother. Once you've installed one of these tools on your system, it will then look for all the damaged settings that Windows has, and show you the ones it wants to fix. You then just need to click "fix errors" and it will cure the problems that are making your system run slow.

In order to make Windows 7 run fast, you need to keep all the registry settings clean and in working order. You should download a registry cleaner to boost the speed of your Windows 7 PC.

Server Network Monitoring - Keeping Your Computer Server Running Smoothly By Michael McQueen

More and more computers are now being linked to allow efficiency. Whether it is a few computers in the closed confines of an office, or whether it is many more computers scattered around the globe, networks now allow for all these parts to be connected and to work simultaneously on the same platform, exchanging information and data in real time along pathways opened up by network connections.

But this same connectivity is 'fragile', in the sense that it has a lot running through it. Information packets being transferred and exchanged, openings into the virtual world, peripherals that need to work together, attacks upon security - all these need to be managed and monitored to ensure the network delivers the efficient and reliable service it promises to deliver. This is where server network monitoring is implemented.

Network monitoring is the key to ensuring efficiency and to keep an eye on the good running of all tasks pertinent to this sector. It enables proper monitoring of all resources and aspects of a server, whether it is a single-server system in a home, or a more complicated, extended network for an enterprise, or even on the scales of LAN and WAN networks.

Server network monitoring helps to manage all these aspects. Available as software packages, these monitoring tools allow for the scanning of the network for failures and irregularities. In most cases, once a problem or a threat has been identified, the program allows alerts through email, pager or text messaging. This can help to attend to a potential problem before it blows and creates complications.

The server monitor also monitors for network and server uptime, across all servers, workstations and devices such as routers. Most packages work through deduction from generated events to provide service status, and some programs even run live tests to generate such results, ensuring efficient server uptime. Security aspects are also closely checked.

Most server network monitoring packages have built-in monitoring rules to be able to operate with a wide variety of Exchange, ISA, SQL, Web servers and more. Disk space, services, processes and other performance related matters can also be monitored through these programs.

Network Monitoring Software is vital for any computer network! For simple straight forward techniques to make sure your network is working properly rush over to http://www.NetworkMonitoringServices.org/!

Steps to Make Windows 7 Run Like New

Even though many people are now upgrading to Windows 7, they are facing a big problem in that this system still runs very slowly. This is a problem which even the most advanced computers cannot avoid, but if you follow these simple steps, you should be able to make your Windows 7 PC run like it did when it was new. Here's what you need to do...

Step 1 - Make Sure You Have The Right Hardware

Windows 7 has been called a "lightweight" system because of how it's meant to be able to run on almost any setup... but you do need to have a minimum level of hardware to get it running fast. You basically need to have at least 1GB of ram, 1GHZ processor, 20GB of Hard Drive space and a DirectX 9 graphics card. If you don't have those minimum requirements, you should look to get an upgrade on your PC.

Windows 7 might be the most advanced system ever released by Microsoft, but it still has requirements that it needs to run on. The hardware of your PC is the first place you need to look in order to speed it up... but there's also something else you can do as well:

Step 2- Clean Up The Settings Inside Your PC

One of the biggest reasons why Windows 7 computers run slower with time is because they get a lot of settings damaged inside your system. These settings store everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper, and are all kept inside the "registry database" of your PC. Unfortunately, many of these settings become damaged and corrupted over time, making Windows highly unstable and slow. It basically makes your computer unable to read the files it needs, slowing it down.

In order to make Windows 7 run faster, you first need to fix the settings that cause it to run slow. To do this, you should download a 'registry cleaner' program from the Internet and install it on your PC. This program will basically look through your PC and fix any of the settings that are causing Windows to run slower, making your computer run like new again. If you can get a registry tool that fixes the largest number of errors, then you'll be able to make Windows run extremely fast without much effort on your part.

You can make Windows faster by first checking the hardware of your PC and then cleaning out the damaged settings from your system with a 'registry cleaner'. You can download registry cleaner from our website to make your Windows 7 PC run fast.

Corel DRAW - Best Desktop Publishing Software

Corel DRAW is a supreme supplier of graphics software, including the popular Corel DRAW program. Corel DRAW has tools that allow the user to both create and edit images. The type of desktop publishing tools that you use will depend on the type of project. For more information and assistance, use the Corel website.

Corel DRAW is the best Desktop publishing software that empowers users to create illustrations containing graphics, text and photographs. Corel has an extensive range of tools which enable the user to edit any shape or character with ease and precision, fit text to curves and create custom color separations. It is developed and marketed by Corporation of Ottawa. This tool can open files: Adobe PageMaker, Microsoft Publisher and Word, and other programs can print documents to Adobe PDF using the Writer printer driver, which such software can then open and edit every aspect of the original layout and design.

Several innovations to vector-based illustration originated with Corel: a node-edit tool that operates differently on different objects, fit text-to-path, stroke-before-fill, quick fill/stroke color selection palettes, perspective projections, mesh fills and complex gradient fills.

One of this software's many strengths is the huge range of over 1,000 fonts that it comes with, provided in both TrueType and Postscript Type 1 format. Corel differentiates itself from its opponent in a number of ways: The first is its positioning as a graphics suite, rather than just a vector graphics program. A full range of editing tools allow the user to adjust contrast, color balance, change the format from RGB to CMYK, add special effects such as vignettes and special borders to bitmaps. Bitmaps can also be edited more extensively using Corel PhotoPaint, opening the bitmap directly from Corel and returning to the program after saving. It also allows a laser to cut out any drawings.

Expert believed it was the first of the Windows-based drawing programs and has built on this early start to become far-and-away the dominant drawing package on the PC. Its biggest strength - and its biggest potential limitation - is its all-encompassing approach. In the past this has led to accusations of unfocused bloating, but with version 7.0 Corel has addressed the criticisms with a far tighter and better rationalized program. Even so, there's a huge range of functionality to cover.

Corel DRAW Download was originally developed for Microsoft Windows and currently runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. The current version, X5, was released on 23 February 2010.

Web Design - Optimizing Images For the Web

A friend of mine is an artist and wanted to show me his website and give my opinions. Knowing that I would be painfully truthful, he respected my feedback.

So, upon typing in his website address it became glaringly apparent that he went with a template driven site. What has the world come to, if a creative person such as my friend has to use a template driven website? Where did one's creativity go?

The task of watching all of his images slowly load onto my computer screen was worse than listening to nails screeching down a chalkboard. I was also envisioning how many people had already visited his website and were frustrated and decided to surf elsewhere when it took too long for his pages to load.

Doing a few simple steps can help your pages (especially if you have lots of images) download quicker:

1. Use Flash. Flash is a great medium in which to showcase artwork, photography or a large amount of images. Just keep in mind that the size of the image should already be the appropriate size for the Flash asset. Don't edit the size of the image once it's on your stage because if the image is 1MB and resized, it will always be 1MB, but just a smaller version of 1MB. Bottom line on this is optimize and reduce your image size before you import it into Flash.

2. Optimize your images for web use. Whenever I use images on any site I design, I always resize the image to be optimally effective for the internet. The best way to do this is to use Photoshop. Here are the steps:
a. In Photoshop with your image open, choose File > Save For Web and Devices.
b. Click on the Optimized tab at the top of the window
c. On the right side of the window, there is a drop down menu for the type of file you want to save your image to. This can either be in JPEG, PNG or GIF format. JPEG and PNG files are great for photography while GIF formats are typically used for either vector shaped graphics or images which do not contain a lot of color.
d. Once you've chosen your format, change your image size toward the bottom of the window. This would be the pixel width and height required for either your web page or Flash asset.
e. Hit the enter key and then look at the amount of kilobytes your image has been reduced to in the lower left corner of the window. What was probably a 1.2 MB file has now been reduced to more like 56k. Talk about speeding up the download of your web page!
f. Hit the save button, rename the image and then put this in a folder where you would keep your other images for your web page and use accordingly.

What's also nice about this particular feature in Photoshop is that you can always preview your image on a browser by clicking on the Preview button. Additionally, a "Device Central" button is available so you can see what your image would look like on a vast array of portable devices.

HTML Comes Before PHP

Building a web site that uses a form almost guarantees that there will be a use of PHP. Depending on the scope of the form, switching in between PHP and HTML can be confusing, and messy. In order to avoid this, it's best to build the HTML side before coding any PHP.

It doesn't matter how long a web programmer has been at it. They will always occasionally forget to close a tag, or maybe add one too many tags in. Plus, with no PHP to get in the way, testing the form's appearance is a simple task. If it doesn't look right, just throw in some CSS to give it a good design. It is highly recommended that the form is not echoed out using PHP. The only thing seen is a small PHP icon, instead of the actual form, making editing the form difficult.

Once the form is completed, this is where the PHP comes in. Before any HTML code is where the first PHP code should be. This is the place to get all variables that were just posted and check to make sure that the form has been completed and any fields that are required have been filled in. This way, the form can then display any errors or missing fields using CSS.

If the form didn't validate, it would be a pain for the user to re-enter all that information again. Since the web page already has that information, it's easy to tell the form how to display it. In each input item, create a value of =$some_var_name?>. This way looks a lot neater than echoing out the variable. When testing from a hard drive instead of a server, the browser may not show the variable value, but it will show the variable that will display there.

What if certain users can see different fields? This can sometimes be the case for web sites that have a log in system. Again, in a case like this, code the HTML part first and make sure it is working and looks good. Then, open and close a PHP section before the field you wish to restrict, doing the same after the field as well. In the field above the field, type the code that will determine which users can access this field. This will usually end with an if statement. Every time a squiggly bracket is opened, in the PHP code below the field, close it right away. This will help prevent breaking of code.

After the page is completed and the PHP is working perfectly, what happens if another field is required? Because of the clean layout that has already been coded, it is easy to insert the HTML input field, and throw in a bit of PHP to make it work with what has already been made.

Ecommerce - Tips on Web Designs

Electronic commerce, also known as ecommerce, refers to the buying and selling of products via the Internet. The amount of trade performed online has extraordinarily grown as Internet usage has widely increased. This kind of business has become successful because of too many reasons and that would include the absence of a need of sales assistants. You can practically open an ecommerce website without the help of an actual manpower.

Primarily, if you happen to know applications, such as e-commerce site templates or even e-commerce packages, which can enhance your website, feel free to use them. You will definitely need these for you to achieve the ideal appearance of a suitable e-commerce website.

You don't need to put too much creativeness on your own web design though, just so you can sell your product. You just have to keep in mind that people who browse online shops only have a few seconds of attention span. Without doubt, graphic designs are totally attractive to the eyes of customers but too much of such designs can hurt. This can lead to the slowing down of your customer's computer due to the countless of graphics that are being loaded. An average person will not bother to wait just for your page to load. You definitely would not want them to leave your page and go back to their search results to find another less complicated website.

Moreover, avoid flashing a web page full of bright multi-colored graphics that request customers to click on a specific link just so that they can enter your website. That is not helpful at all. Clients want straight access to the products they need. Simple navigation and easy search to the products they are interested with are very important.

Once you have accomplished a fairly arranged web page, do not add unnecessary Google advertisements and banners. You can place all these affiliation links in discreet portions of your web page.

In addition, you must ensure that all of your links are not broken and that the whole page is easy to navigate. Broken links might be the main reason why potential customers become uninterested with your website and would rather prefer your competitor's page, which has links that flawlessly work. Just think about the possible impression you leave your customers when you cannot even get your own website working properly.

Next, a sit map is significant for every website so that easy navigation can be promoted. You must ensure that your web page is not as puzzling as any other. You do not want your customers to find their selves in pages that they are not completely interested with or to click on links that unexpectedly pop up out of nowhere.

Just think of your self as person who has no idea with websites, can you navigate your way through your page without encountering any problems at all? Evaluate your web page and scrutinize the things that you might lack. Customers who are satisfied with the way you present your website will definitely come back for more.

The Secrets to Great Web Design

Great web design is all about simplicity. Although it you might think that lots of fancy graphics, sound and moving images will attract visitors often the opposite is true. If you think about it why do visitors come to your website. Mostly they are after information. That's information about products or about a topic or about what others are thinking. Visitors are rarely coming to look at your great web design!

So what is simplicity and how do you achieve it?

Simplicity starts with having a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve. You need to be able to state quickly and clearly the purpose of your website. Is it to sell books, to inform people about a topic, to encourage debate? Whatever the reason for your site you need to be really clear in your mind about it.

Once you can easily explain your website idea, the next thing to do is work out the fewest number of pages you need. Don't forget the aim is simplicity so start with a few pages, build it up to a large number and then hack away until you are left with the bear minimum you need.

Typically you'll have 6 main menu items each of these will have between 6 and 10 sub menu items and each sub menu item will have a number of pages. This means a 3 level site. The top level to show where to go (contact us, topic 1, topic 2 etc). The next level down will expand on the major topic areas and the level below expand further.

A structure like this is simple to understand and is tried and tested on many web sites. However it doesn't need to be religiously adhered to you should do something that works for your web design but with the simplicity principle in mind.

Armed with a menu structure the next stage is to build the site itself. The easiest and often the quickest method is to get a company to undertake the web design for you. However if you choose not to do this then you should think through your pages carefully. The key to simplicity is to think in terms of similarity of pages. You don't want to design six different top level pages. It'll just confuse your visitor and they'll end up leaving. Instead pick a basic layout that works for all the pages and stick to it.

If all is well you'll now have a menu structure and a template (or templates) for each of the level within the menu structure. Now you should think about building a draft site. This is a site that has the look and feel of the final site but without the content. This allows you to review the functionality and layout without being distracted. You should iterate the look and feel until you are happy and then add the content.

If this all sounds a bit complicated and challenging then you are probably better off to get someone to build the site for you. This allow you to concentrate on the content. However sometimes on a budget this isn't possible and in those cases try to follow these web design principles.

Web Design - 7 Tips For a Successful Site Layout

When you undertake your web design it's really important to thing through the site layout. Here are 7 tips that should help you get it right:

Tip 1

Web design means thinking about the screen size of your visitors. Not everyone has a great big monitor. Keep your site width to 1000 pixels maximum width.

Tip 2

Put the content in the middle of the screen or on the left hand side only. Don't try to do fancy stuff. Put it in an easy to view place. Somewhere that won't be affected when the browser window is resized.

Tip 3

Don't let the page length ever exceed two screenfulls of text. This needs to be part of your web design. Visitors would need to be really keen to read more than two screens. Most people don't like reading a lot of text on screen. So look after them and keep is short.

Tip 4

Put the menu on the left-hand side. It's where people expect it. Don't make it difficult for your visitors. Most sites work that way so make it easy for them to know where to look.

Tip 5

Highlight the menu item for the page the user is on. Your web design should make it easy for visitors to know where they are in your site and they'll thank you for it by coming back and browsing all your pages.

Tip 6

Don't fill the margins outside the main text area with images. It looks great but it distracts the visitor from the purpose of the site. Let them focus on what you want them to focus on. Don't give them distractions; your web design should make it easy for them to focus.

Tip 7

Use black and white or strong contrast colours as a key part of your web design. Black and white works well because they are in high contrast to each other. So using them to outline the different areas of the site makes it simpler for the user.

As with all tips you need to adjust them for your site during your web design process. They are however all focused on one thing, your visitor. Make it easy for them and they'll thank you for it. They will want to join your mailing lists and get to know more about you.

Web Design Matters - Especially the Header

Did you really focus on the website header during your web design? It's one of the most looked at parts of your site and you should give it your full attention. It is the part of the site that says who you are and what you do, it is the attractive part that visitors recognise your site by. So how do you tell if your header is a good header? How can you judge if it was important during the web design process? Well there are a few things to think about.

Does your header lead the web design of follow it?

When you undertook the web design for the site did you think of the header first or did you plough on with the content and fill in the header at the end? If you did it at the end chances are you haven't given it enough thought. You need to stop what you're doing and get in there and sort it out.

When you look at the header does it tell you what the site does?

Web design is all about making it easy for the user to have a great experience when visiting your website. Since the header is often the first thing they see you need to make sure it says what you do. That's not to say you can't have an innovative name for your site just that if you do add some text to say what you do.

Is the header big enough?

Look at the great websites. The headers they use are big. No 50 pixel height banners. Instead you find a height that is often 200 - 300 pixels high. Don't be afraid to use your banner to tell people who you are. Shout it out. Be clear so that your visitors are clear too.

Do you have too much colour?

Often when people realise the importance of the header they start to go overboard with it. They go mad with the web design with lots of graphics and colours. Wavy and "artistic" lines start to appear. It starts to get really busy and the message is lost. Don't lose the message make it clear, big and easy to find.

Do you put the menu above the header?

Some site put a menu above the header. It's wrong. The top left hand corner is the most important and looked at part of the web page. So don't have your visitors look at the word home (most common on menus) let them look at your logo. Tell them who you are. Get the web design right and your visitors with grow.

10 Basic But Unbeatable Tips For Designing Your Business Website

Design of your business website is very important. You want to get across a couple of things - important things. What is your business all about? A new visitor should be able to answer that question in the first 5 seconds. Where can they contact you? What products or services do you sell?

These 10 tips will help you create a website that is fun and easy to use for visitors. These are time-tested techniques to help your business website be the best it can possibly be.

1. Fonts - Verdana, Trebuchet, Arial, Helvetica - these are all easy to use fonts that are more recent than Times New Roman. A site still using an old font like that, or worse, courier - which is like type written characters, is an eyesore to look at. Font size should be 12 or 14 point for general text. You might use size 18 or 20 point for headings and subheadings.

2. Include Images - sites that have no images or graphics are very boring and a new visitor will likely just click off very quickly and go to another more "GUI" (Graphical User Interface) site. A GUI site is one that has a lot of eye-candy and can grab a viewer's attention and hold it for some amount of time. Photos of people using your products are especially effective in helping you sell online.

3. Include Video, PDF, images, MP3, FLASH - and all kinds of multimedia files to grab attention and keep visitors on your business website. Video in particular is the ultimate way for businesses to present information to potential customers online. Invest some time in producing some video for your website - it is all time well-invested.

4. Blue Links - originally all hyperlinks on websites were blue. This was back in the mid to late 1990s. THe color has stuck in our minds and to most of the online world the bright blue color of text signifies hyperlinks. This color is more easily noticed than other link colors. If you do not want to use bright blue for your links, use another color of blue or bright red. Black for links is difficult to discern, so if your body text is black, you should not use black for your link color.

5. White Space - is necessary. Break up huge conglomerations of text with copious amounts of white space to give eyes a break.

6. Sales Page Optimization - a quality sales page has a number of features. Primarily, your goal is to answer every question about your product as possible so your potential customer does not click away and visit another site. Your sales page should have images, sound, video, or other media to highlight all the positives you can about the product. Describe who your product is for, why it is necessary, how to use it, and why the price is worth it.

7. Template Format - your header, columns, footer, the entire website should have some structure to it - and look professional as a result. If you keep the links in the same place, the articles in a set format, it becomes natural and easily remembered. If it is easy to remember then your site is easy to use. Strive to make your site very easy to use.

8. Remove Mandatory Downloads - websites or pages that start with a FLASH or other mandatory download can be a horrible user experience and may lead to potential customers clicking away before they even see what you have to offer. Large downloads of FLASH or video should be optional at all times - never mandatory. Though most of the USA has broadband internet there are buyers that do not. Even among broadband users, few enjoy being forced to wait even a minute to download something they are not sure is pertinent to them.

9. Substantial Content - business websites with less than 10-20 pages are not taken very seriously by Google or other search engines. You should be able to make 50 pages for any business website. If you cannot fill your site with 50 pages of great information about your product or service then you probably are not going to make a big impression in Google. It is possible, it is not likely.

10. A-Level Graphics - there is nothing that gives your business the impression of being amateurs as having weak graphics on your website or for your promotional materials. Spend the extra money to have graphics developed professionally and you will present a better impression of your business.

There are many areas to optimize when you start your new business. Make sure you are building a business based on fundamentals that are proven and work, not a house of cards that can fall over at the first sign of trouble.

Web Design and 5 Ways to Be Font Smart

Web design should make it clear which fonts are to be used on the site. It often doesn't occur to website designers to think about the fonts too much but they matter hugely. The main font used by your site needs to be a key part of the web design process.

Smart 1

Use a font that all the browsers support in the same way. It might not be obvious but not all browsers use fonts in the same way. Once you move away from the mainstream fonts quite quickly things start to go all over the place! So focus on the mainstream fonts like Verdana, Arial and Helvetica.

Smart 2

Use a decent size. 14 pt font is the size you should have as default. It's big and easy to see. This means that older people can access the site easily and quickly. This is great if you are an ecommerce site since this is the group of people that generally have a good disposable income.

Smart 3

Use black. Don't get tempted by the vast array of colours you can get for fonts. For you main body text use black text. It's easy on the eyes and so pleasant to read. If you want to use different colours use them for the headings or other parts but make the main body easy to read.

Smart 4

Don't crush up your text. Make sure when you look at the text that the text is well spaced. There is nothing worse for a reader than text that is all crushed up together. Don't do it!! If your text is crushed together get the person responsible for your web design to sort it out with CSS classes.

Smart 5

Use CSS to control your fonts. A core part of web design should always be making sure that fonts (and other page elements) are controlled by CSS classes. If you don't know what this is then ask your web designer. This is one of the things that can be really hard to sort after the site has been developed so ask at the start of the web design not after it is completed.

These 5 smart font tips can really aid your web design. You should discuss them with your web designer to satisfy yourself that they have been accounted for in the web design.

Top 6 Facebook Games

Facebook has become the most popular social network online, with more than 400 million active users online from all over the world (but mainly from North America, and specifically the United States). There have been a couple of months (mainly on holidays) in the last year when Facebook's number of page views exceeded that of Google by a few million in the United States.

Just imagine that, Facebook had more than 300,000,000,000 (that's 300 billion) views in a month, more than the biggest search engine. And people agree that the trend will continue, and soon Facebook may achieve a stable monthly page view count that is higher than that of Google's. The main reason why this is happening is that there are millions of people who just use the Internet to communicate with their friends and other people. Even if they use Google to find some information, the number of searches is most likely to be lower than that of visited pages and profiles on Facebook.

But Facebook isn't just a social network for communication. Everything has changed with the introduction of Facebook apps, which can be developed by anyone with good programming skills, using their proprietary API and code. There are now hundreds of thousands of Facebook apps, ranging from calendar and task management utilities to various interesting games, and the developers are making millions off of them.

Below, you'll find some of the most popular (and best by definition) games that you can play on Facebook.

FarmVille. This is the most popular Facebook game at the moment, with over 90 million active users (as of March). It's a simple, yet very addicting game where you own and take care of your own farm. You can plant crops, raise animals, earn coins, create a garden and do a lot of other things. You can partner or compete with other players, help them and let them help you, which is a good integration with Facebook's main mission.

Mafia Wars. As you might've guessed, in this game you play as a Mafia boss. While it is not a 3D game (like "Mafia", a great game for Windows), it's still very interesting, mainly because you play with other real people and never know what will happen next. You can launder money, run illegal underground games, buy machine guns and "remove" other players, and do other things that Mafiosi do, only without actually breaking the law.

Bejeweled Blitz. This is the Facebook version of the extremely popular gem puzzle game, which is already available for most platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iPhone and others. The game play is the same - you have to match gems, but that doesn't make it any less addictive. You just switch from an offline version that you have to install to an online one, which also gives you the possibility to compete (in scores) with other Facebook users.

Restaurant City. This game is a lot like FarmVille, only instead of taking care of a farm, you own and run a restaurant. Your duties will include managing your employees and money, finding ingredients to create new dishes (you can also trade them with your friends on Facebook), and do other things that businessmen in the restaurant industry do. It's a pretty entertaining alternative to FarmVille, if you're not really into farming and countryside:-).

Texas Hold 'Em Poker. Now this is a very cool game. It gives you the possibility to play the great Texas Hold 'Em Poker without having to sit at a (sometimes) uncomfortable table with other people who may or may not smoke and drink. You can play poker with any of your friends right from the comfort of your chair or sofa. And probably the best thing is that you won't have to learn to have a "poker face":-), unless you're using a web camera, of course.

Petville and Pet Society. These are two very similar games where you need to take care of your pet. You must feed him, play with him, groom and bath it and otherwise nurture him. Pet Society also allows you to make virtual money by competing in races, gambling, gardening and visiting friends. If you liked (or even remember) the old Tamagotchi devices or similar software for your computer, you'll definitely like this game.

There are countless other games, from puzzles to RPG's to racing (albeit without any fancy 3D effects). You just have to search for the ones you like and sign up for them. But if you're new to this, you can easily start out with a couple of the above games. They are indeed some of the best, because millions of people playing them can't be wrong.

4 Great Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Website

I've said it before, I'll say it again - web traffic is the life blood of any online business. Even if you have the greatest product or website to offer, without traffic your business won't generate any money. So to help out those who are struggling to get visitors to their websites, I would like to discuss my 4 favorite and most effective channels to drive web traffic.

And the best part of it is - they are free.

So here they are -

Article Marketing

You write informative articles on your particular niche of interest and submit them to article submission sites. The reward comes in 3 ways. First, you can include a resource box with a link to your website. If your article is good, readers will want to visit your website for more good information. Second, if you use a keyword to represent the link, it can help you get ranked in the search engines for that particular keyword. In other words, this helps you in Search Engine Optimization. Third, a reader may pick up your article to put up on his site. As a courtesy, he is obliged to include your resource box and links. This gets you exposure from his readers as well.

Squidoo

Being a Giant Squid who has created more than 150 lenses, I can't stop telling you how awesome Squidoo is as a source of traffic. The great thing about Squidoo is that it is a very content rich site, and most search engines love content rich sites. With hundreds of thousands of lenses choked full of information, Squidoo lenses find it easy to rank high naturally in search engines. So this means free organic traffic from the search engines for your website if you structure your Squidoo lenses to link cleverly to your own website. But make sure your lenses are related to your niche or your traffic won't be relevant. The second good thing about Squidoo is that there are already many relevant readers on Squidoo itself, and you can easily get lots of Squidoo visitors if you reach out to other Squids on the Squidoo forum.

Forums

For every niche there is almost certainly bound to be a forum or several forums catering to it. In the most popular forums, there are thousands of prospects eager to discuss or learn more about your niche. If you have a good product or website to offer them, they would most certainly be interested.

You can search for forums related to your niche by typing this in search engine - "Your Niche" + forums. For example, if your niche is Golf, you type in 'golf forums'. You can also visit Big Boards - a directory which compiles the biggest message boards and forums online.

Yahoo Answers

Every day thousands of people visit Yahoo Answers to ask and answer questions. By searching for unanswered questions related to your niche and giving good informative answers, you can get a steady stream of traffic from this website if provide a link to your website. One thing you should realize however is that if you are chosen as the Best Answer, you get the most amount of traffic as your answer will be featured. So be sure to give thought to your answers and try to be as informative and helpful as possible.

Of course there are many other free channels, but I am discussing what work best for me and what certainly work best for many others.

Again, no single channel offers the same results for everyone. There are too many permutations involved. Personality, niche, web content, quality of article, writing style, etc all play a part in determining how effective a channel works for you.

Build Website Traffic

For your online venture to succeed, it's important for it to attract a high amount of website traffic. Many webmasters, to increase the number of their website visits or website hits choose to buy website traffic, although there are many ways to get website traffic. Following are some popular ways through which you can get visitors to your website without spending a penny.

1. Exchange Links

Perhaps one of the most convenient and most efficient ways to increase web traffic is through exchange links. By designing a strong, content-oriented website, you can manage to convince many other website owners to exchange website links. You can exchange your website links with the websites that complement your website and feature a similar niche as your website, without putting on direct competitors. For instance, if your website deals with hair care products, you can consider trading links with websites dealing with beauty products or skin-care products. Do not trade links with websites dealing with the same products or services as your website, as this may dent your business prospects. It is recommended that you exchange links with well-established, popular and reputed websites. These websites have a high search engine ranking and boast of a loyal set of followers. They can divert more traffic visitors to your website.

2. Provide original content through an opt-in box

This is another efficient way to get more website traffic. By including original, informative and compelling content in your opt-in box, you can increase your chances of attracting more website visitors. Write articles related to the niche of your website. For instance, if your website deals with real estate business, you can write articles on topics, such as 'tips to find the best real estate' or 'what factors should you consider, when buying real estate.' You can also inform your online visitors about the current mortgage rates. Ensure that your content is fresh, unique and easy to comprehend. This is one of the best ways of increasing your website visits.

3. Include suitable keywords in your web content

You will have more guaranteed website traffic if your website has a high search engine ranking. To obtain a high SEO ranking, you have to focus a great deal on your website content. You need to ensure that your website content is loaded with relevant, specific keywords associated with the niche of your website. For instance, if your website deals with Internet Marketing Coaching, you can include keywords, such as business coaching, business coach and Internet marketing strategy in your web content. Ensure to place these keywords throughout the content and in the title. Choosing the right keyword is very important. The keywords you choose should have a high search volume.

4. Send out flyers

This is perhaps a very under-utilized method of attracting more visitors. Direct mail or flyers allow you to inform your potential customers about your business. Through flyers or direct mailing, you can give comprehensive information about your website to your potential customers and explain how they can benefit from your products or services. Flyers will provide an off line marketing format that most people are comfortable with. Off line marketing will expand your prospect list and help them move into being online visitors.
